So thrilled to be a new Art Editor for n+ 1 digital edition! First pick: image from Katja Mater‘s “Human Color Wheel” series, to go with a review by Haley Miotek of Kate Zambreno’s Green Girl:

Volunteers filled 1.5 million balloons with helium, and released them all at once:
“When the rain came, it wet the balloons and caused them to descend without popping . . . The floating balloons made finding the head of someone fighting to stay above water impossible.”

Holy wow new chairs by WAKA WAKA, opening this Saturday.

Part of the thrill of curating the “I’m Revolting Ceramics Shop” was finding artists I didn’t know before like Joseph Pintz, who makes work with heft (he calls it “stubborn physicality”) — dough bowls, double bowl and more available from May 16-20 at 200 Lafayette St. for Sight Unseen OFFSITE.
So thrilled to be curating a ceramics exhibition for Sight Unseen Offsite, from May 16-20 in New York City, with a bonkers amazing line-up of artists who combine a resurrection of ancient techniques with new forms and deep weirdness:
“A reminder that there’s still plenty of room for the beautifully imperfect: our perpetual struggle to take the same stuff there has ever been – mud and fire, heartbreak and ambition – and create of it something distinctly personal.”
Among the work: two pieces from the amazing Matthias Kaiser. TOP: Gold-plated lump of hand-dug clay from tree roots and a slip-glazed vase, both of which are fresh-out-of-the-kiln and will be available in the show!
